South Shore Cable About Us
South Shore Cable Construction, Inc. is the leader in underground and aerial cable installation for voice, video, data and networking cable for the telecommunications industry. We are a privately-held, local company with the best know-how and equipment in the region. South Shore Cable Construction is currently involved in a number of cell tower projects, system rebuilds and upgrades and the Broadband Technology Opportunities Program which is funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
South Shore Cable Construction, Inc. was incorporated in 1989 and its affiliate Cable TV Services, Inc. in 1980 to supply labor services to the cable television and telephone service providers throughout Northern Ohio. The business was started and is still run by the Geib Family, all lifelong residents of Cleveland's West Side.
The company has completed major projects for telecommunications and electrical utilities in the Cleveland area. South Shore deployed a 1,200 mile fiber/coax cable system servicing the City of Cleveland in coordination with the management of Ohio Bell and its craft workforce. Beginning in 1995, the company broke ground as the prime contractor for construction of Ameritech New Media's Americast Cable Television System, which provided service to the entire Greater Cleveland Metropolitan area. The communities of Berea, North Olmsted, Fairview Park, Westlake, Middleburg Heights and North Royalton have been completed with future community franchises being awarded on an ongoing basis. First Energy and ICG Telecom Group contracted South Shore Cable Construction to place and maintain a fiber optic backbone throughout Northeast Ohio. These fiber optic cable projects were 250 and 150 miles respectively with emergency restoral contracts instituted to provide repair services 24 hours a day and 7 days a week.
The company has completed projects for several colleges and universities including Case Western Reserve's OSP fiber optic network constructed in association with NetCom Management, Baldwin Wallace College's OSP fiber network linking the administrative and academic facilities throughout campus and Oberlin College's campus fiber network constructed in association with Johnson Controls.
South Shore Cable Construction, Inc. has outside plant experience in field survey, strand map and design, aerial/underground construction of network new builds, rebuilds and maintenance as well as residential/commercial cable television installation and set top implementation.
